               “Animal husbandry is the branch of agriculture where animals are reared, bred and raised for meat, fiber, eggs, milk and other food products.”

 

• History of Animal Husbandry.

It is a branch of agriculture in which animal farming is carried out. Livestock farming has a broad history, starting with the Neolithic revolution, animals were first domesticated. Around 13000 BC onwards, Sheep, Pigs, poultry birds were kept in farms.  

The word husband refers to managing carefully, and it comes from an ancient meaning of husband. In the 14th century, husbands referred to taking care of household and ownership. Now, it means judicious use of resources or control and in farming the cultivation of animals and plants. In olden times ranchers and farmers raised animals that considered livestock farming. In this modern time, technology gets advanced, and raising animals for food has changed too. 

• What is Animal Husbandry?

Animal husbandry is the process of livestock keeping and selective breeding. It is the management and care of farm animals in which the genetic qualities and behavior of animals are further developed for profit as mainly meat and milk. 

Animals provide us with a variety of food products which have high nutritional values such as protein and other essential nutrients. Therefore, they require a lot of care and attention.

Farm animals are bred commercially to meet the high demand for food. Mainly Animals are kept to get milk ,eggs and flesh(meat). 

Dairy products from animals like cattle, buffaloes, goats, are rich sources of protein. These animals are called milk animals as they provide us with milk.

Egg products from animals like hen,duck,quail,goose provide nutrient-rich eggs, which again are rich sources of protein.

Animals like beef cattle, broiler poultry,rabbit,horses,sheep,goat,aquarian fish and swine, are bred for meat. 

 

 

 

Other than that people are rearing some farm animals to get skin,fur,etc.
